Wind turbines generate clean and renewable energy without any harmful emissions, which thereby helps reduce a proportion of the UK's CO² emissions.

The amount of electricity generated by a wind turbine is dependent on the speed and direction of the wind. The speed (of the wind) however is also dependent on a few factors, i.e. the height of the turbine, closeness to obstructions (trees, hills or buildings) and the geographical location within the UK.
If the turbine will be located close to an obstruction, we would suggest that the turbine should be approximately twice as high as the obstruction.
A wind turbine system costs between £3000 and £18,000 depending on the size and location. These costs usually include the turbine, the mast, the inverters, the installation and if required the battery storage. A turbine has a life of up to 20 years and requires maintenance every few years. If you opt to have a battery, these usually have to be replaced after approximately 6 years.
It is important to obtain planning permission before you install a wind turbine.
